How to open an Iphone Apple Maps pin on Windows or Android with Google Maps

Twice this week I had people send me Apple Map pins via text message to my android phone. The first t ime I had to share it via SMS with a friend with an Iphone and bring him with me to find where I was going. I knew this couldn't be the best solution. After some quick google searching I couldn't find a good explanation on how to use this pin on my phone to get directions so I decided to mess around with the data sent in the pin and see if I could open it myself. With this two step process you can use your Android phone or computer and google maps to find out the location of an Apple IPhone pin and get directions!

Latitude and Longitude numbers you will be inputting into Google Maps

Step 1. Open the Apple Maps pin in a text editor and look for the two numbers separated by a \, (these are the pins latitude and longitude) right after "United%20States&ll=", or the country name you are in for pins outside the U.S..

Step 2. Copy these numbers and paste them into the Search Google Maps section on https://maps.google.com/ on your computer, or in the "Search Here" section of the Google Maps app on your Android phone

Search Results, also the geographic center of the United States :)

Step 3. After you paste them delete the "\," and you should have 2 numbers separated by a single space. Hit enter and you will find your pin location, just click directions and then you're off!
